Breaks in goRoster can either be Unpaid or Paid. The lowest duration for an unpaid break is 15mins while paid breaks can be assigned in 10min intervals.
Unpaid vs. Paid Breaks
Unpaid Breaks: Commonly known as 'Meal' Breaks. Typically Meal Breaks are 30 mins or more.
Unpaid breaks can be assigned for the following increments; 15mins, 30mins, 45mins and 60mins.
Paid Breaks: Commonly known as 'Rest' Breaks. Typically Rest Breaks are 10 mins.
Paid breaks can be assigned for the following durations; 10mins, 20mins, 30mins and 40mins.
Breaks in the Roster Designer

When an Unpaid break is added to a shift the Employee Wage cost calculation will be:
(Shift Duration - Unpaid Break Duration) x Hourly Wage= Employee Wage Cost
When a Paid Break is added to a shift the Employee cost calculation will be:
Shift Duration x Hourly Wage = Employee Wage Cost
Its important to note that adding Unpaid or Paid breaks to a shift does not affect the Duration shown on the shift. Think of it like this, if you work from 9:00 AM till 5:00 PM you may be awarded a 10min Paid break and a 60min Unpaid Break. You still work an 8 hour shift.
The break duration in goRoster is the total of all breaks of that type, so if you have multiple unpaid or paid breaks set the break duration as the total duration of all breaks of that type.
Employee is eligible for two 10 mins Paid 'Rest' Breaks: 10mins + 10mins = 20mins (Paid) Breaks.
Note: Refer to your local employment laws for industry specific obligations for employee breaks.
Breaks in Timesheets
Unpaid and Paid Breaks are displayed on the Detailed and Daily Timesheet printouts. Unpaid Breaks show on the top left and paid breaks on the bottom right.
The times when an employee took their breaks can be added in the Break Times field.

Breaks in Reports
Unpaid and Paid Breaks now show in the Hours by Employee and Hours by Role reports.
Duration Hours = (Shift Duration) - Unpaid Breaks
Note: Paid Breaks are included in the Shift Duration so do not affect the Duration Hours.
